About Us

About Us: We’re two cousins, more like sisters, going on a trip across the US. Katie, a recent college graduate, aka, knower of all things, is accompanying her cousin Emily on this once-in-a-lifetime adventure before heading back to California where she'll start a teaching credential program so she can edumacate the young children. Emily, who, after living in Costa Rica for six months (CR Blog), thinks of herself as a traveling machine, convinced Katie to come on this next big adventure.

The Route: Northern California Bay Area natives, we will start by heading straight down to San Diego, California. Then we’ll take the “southernmost” route across the US from SD to Savannah, Georgia. From Savannah, we’ll hug the East Coast to Boston, and will ultimately end in New Hampshire, where we’ll spend a few days with our family out there. Katie will fly home to start school…again, and Emily will bum around NH for the summer! We hope you enjoy reading about our road trippin adventures!

We also feel we should add that we bought a book called Road Trip USA: Cross-Country Adventures on America's Two-Lane Highways, written by Jamie Jensen, and have used it as the backbone of our journey. We followed a LOT of Jamie's suggestions and used information in the book to help tell about the places we went in our blog. So, if you're ever planning a x-country road trip, his website is a great place to start, and you can't beat having the book with you on the road!

We've Arrived!!!

Exhausted from a long (18 states in 20 days! yikes), fun trip, we finally wound our way to our final destination, beautiful Wolfeboro, New Hampshire!  Many moons ago, my Aunt Dee and Uncle Ralph said "peace out, California" and settled in NH, where they've been living ever since.  Their four kids/our cousins, Mary, Ralphie, Julie and Johnny all still live within an hour or so of Wolfeboro, which means we get to see our aunt/uncle, cousins, and their families whenever we're here!  YAAAY!!!

Being the great cousins that they are, Ralphie and Joy hosted a bbq dinner with the whole dam fam on Tuesday night after we arrived in town.  It was SO great to see everyone right away and to start catching up!  We played games with my cousin Julie's kids, Tyler and Morgan, and KR and I got to vie for Morgan's affections (KR won, but she was all mine when we were last out here for xmas, so that's okay.  Plus, I have all summer to win her over muahahaha :).  We had lots of delicious food, great convos, and some time to relax!

Once we got back to my aunt Dee's house, Katie and I were ready to pass out!  We got to sleep in the next day, and though we had big plans to blog and "get stuff done" we just did laundry (a must do), lounged around and played princess barbies with Morgan.  It was great.  We got ready in time for Miss Morgan's graduation from preschool, and we couldn't have been happier to be around for that!  The Bumblebees put on a performance of the Very Hungry Caterpillar (Morgan played a plum and a cupcake) and then sang some of their most favorite songs.  It. was. adorable.  And of course the whole thing was followed by homemade desserts in the cafeteria.  The kids were loving it!

Seriously, what a cutie patootie!

Morgan won an award for the most musical, which makes sense because she LOVES to sing and dance, and she is one good little dancer - she rocks at Just Dance!

On Thursday, KR and I had plans to head out to Manchester to have lunch with our cousin Johnny and then shop around for a bit until I dropped her off for her flight that evening.  Then I'd head back to attend Tyler's last baseball game of the season with the fam.  Unfortunately my body had other plans and I went to bed feeling pretty yucky on Wednesday night and feeling even worse on Thursday morning.  My cousin Mary took Katie to the airport instead, and it was so sad to say goodbye (especially while sick!) after three weeks of so much fun!  Katers did make it back to Cali just fine (even though she packed her headphones in her luggage for an 8 hr flight! grrr) and is probably at this moment preparing to start grad school tomorrow!!  Eek!  Good luck sister!

I ended up spending two straight days in bed with the worst sore throat ever and borderline feverish chills/hotflashes.  It was yucky.  It also meant I had to miss the Booze Cruise that I was soooo looking forward to attending with my cousins on Friday night. :(  Now it's Sunday night and I'm finally resembling a human again.  I think by tomorrow I'll be well enough to get up and do stuff, like look for a summer job!!  In the meantime, I thought I'd leave you all with some pics of where I get to spend my summer.  Try not to get too jealous.

There's a reason Wolfeboro, one of many picturesque towns on Lake Winnipesaukee, is the Oldest Summer Resort in America!

A huge thank you to everyone who's been reading our blog posts!  Katie and I had WAY TOO MUCH FUN on our little cross country adventure together, and we're glad we got to share it with you too.  Even if it was hard to keep up to date all the time, or ever.  (hey, it's what happens when you're moving around a lot and don't have reliable internet access.  what do you want?)  This post will probably be updated shortly as I'm sure KR will want to add some stuff too, but in the meantime, we love ya and we'll be in touch!

xoxo,
ENCM and KR
